Manufaktura Culture-Trade-Entertainment Centre is one of the largest commercial centres in Poland and in Europe. It is situated in the heart of Lodz at the junction of Ogrodowa, Zachodnia, Karskiego and Drewnowska Streets. Its location is significant as it is here that Izrael Poznanski, one of the most famous 19th century entrepreneurs of Lodz, established one of the largest textile factories. The complex, open in May 2006, covers the area of 27 ha. Most exteriors of the original buildings have been preserved, which adds special ambience to the place. The only exception is the main shopping gallery, made of steel and glass, which was built from scratch. The most representative part of the Lodz Manufaktura is the former five-storey cotton spinning mill in Ogrodowa Street, which will be turned into a four-star hotel shortly. The real feast for shoppers is the two-storey Mall with over 200 boutiques, medium-sized shops and hypermarkets which have a wide array of goods from Polish and foreign manufacturers on offer. The unique ambience of the site makes shopping a real pleasure. Manufaktura is not only a shopping but a cultural centre as well. It is here that one can contemplate on art, see artistic exhibitions and learn about the history of Lodz. As for recreation, Centrum Manufaktura has a lot to offer to people of all ages. Kids, adolescents and adults can learn about the laws of nature in the Experymentarium – an interactive museum of science and technology. The movie lovers can enjoy themselves watching the latest films screened in the Multi-Cinema Complex with IMAX Theatre as its part. The Jazda!Park – a drink bark with billiards and video game simulators - is also attractive to Manufaktura visitors. Those who are fond of an active way of spending their free time can find something that will suit their taste. The Gymnasion Fitness Club and an artificial climbing wall offer sports activities both to amateurs and professionals all week round. Additional attraction is the old fashion Manufaktura tram which takes customers all around the commercial centre grounds. Manufaktura is a must to all Lodz newcomers!
